The Modular Uplink System consists of:

• Broadcast Network Controller (BNC), which provides all the uplink equipment configuration and monitoring, as well as the downlink commercial IRD configuration and conditional access authorization
• TMX-2010 Transport Multiplexer
• Satellite Smartstream Encryptor Modulator (SEM)
• DigiCipher Event Manager (DEM), for splice insertion and cue tone support
• Encoder and modulator products providing:

  • Multiplexing
  • Encryption
  • Conditional access
  • Modulation
  • Encoder redundancy
  • Uplink redundancy
  • Overall system control

Supporting either MPEG-2, MPEG-4, or HEVC encoding, of either HD or SD source formats, multiplexed in either CBR (continuous bit-rate) or stat-mux format.
